Let’s get this out of the way: this book is not cozy. It’s not spiritual. There are no pressed flowers between these pages.
But I’m still glad I read it.
In The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, Mark Manson throws down a kind of tough-love manifesto — part self-help, part memoir, part verbal slap in the face (the helpful kind). It’s blunt, profane, and occasionally brilliant.
At its core? You can’t give your energy to everything. You only have so many f*cks to give — so you better be choosing them on purpose.
That part hit hard.
As someone who writes about ritual, roots, and making space for slowness… I appreciated the not-so-gentle reminder that boundaries are holy.
That saying no is an act of self-trust. That caring less (strategically) doesn’t mean you don’t care deeply — it means you’ve chosen what matters most.
Would I hand it to a tender soul looking for softness? Maybe not. But if you, like me, sometimes need a well-timed reality check to help you re-center — this one works.
🧠Best listened to while doing something mundane, like cleaning or weeding.
🌿 Best remembered when your inbox is full and your nervous system says no más.
4 out of 5 compostable f*cks.
